In 1965, Rolls Royce, well aware that the S series had become dated, unveiled an entirely new model with a specification to silence even the most vociferous of denigrators. Appearing at the same time as the Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, The T type Bentley incorporated unitary construction - a completely new departure for the company, self levelling independent suspension, servo disc brakes all round, and a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The well tried V8 was basically the same as it had been in the S.3, with a capacity of 6,230cc, raised compression increasing both power and performance.
A host of sophisticated engineering devices were adapted, to give a car of very advanced technical specification and no effort was spared to reduce vibration; harmonic dampers were fitted to the propeller shaft and the entire engine, gearbox and rear suspension were
