The Bentley T2 was, together with its sister Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, the saloon that broke with tradition and set the new course for these two iconic British companies. The line designed by John Blatchley retained the classic styles of elegance, discretion and refinement, while the bodywork brought these British saloons into modernity. The T2 was mechanically identical to the Shadow and was equipped with the classic 6,230 cc pushrod V8, which was initially presented in the Silver Cloud 2. Although there were never any official performance figures, the Bentley T2 was faster than its Silver Shadow sibling: in a test carried out by Autocar in 1970, it reached 100 km/h in less than 10 seconds. In 1977, the T2 underwent the same updates as the Silver Shadow 2, which included a front spoiler, new air conditioning and a new dashboard. Rare, elegant and a pleasure to drive, the T2 is having a major revival among today's collectors.
According to present RREC records, this T2 was ordered on 27 January 1977 through dealer Jack Barclay Ltd of London, who delivered it on 18 April 1978 to its first owner, a Major J.E.B. Pope of Tetbury in Gloucestershire. This T2 retains its original colour scheme of Silver Sand ICI-M 151-3454 with Dark Blue leather interior VM.3209, which has never been altered over the years.
This T2 comes with numerous documents and invoices documenting its history since new. There are many interventions made, and it has all the history traced since new. Since 2010 in Italy, this Bentley T2 is one of the rare examples in circulation today and certainly one of the most eye-catching due to its interesting colour scheme and well-documented history since new. It shows some signs of use but is in very good condition and has been used occasionally by its current owner in recent years. Given the documentation present and the amount of work carried out, we believe that this T2 is in excellent condition.
We inform buyers that the car is being sold in its present state and the buyer should be satisfied with its present condition.
