Description

"The Bentley Continental R was launched at the Geneva motor show in 1991 and the styling of the handsome new coupé harked back to elegant lines of the S -Series Continental coupés produced by Bentley Motors throughout the 50’s and 60’s. The turbocharged 6.75 litre, V8 engine was utilised and internally the car was similarto the Turbo R saloon. Introduced in 1989, the Bentley Continental T brought sportier handling and higher power to the Continental range. It has a four-inch shorter wheelbase than a Continental R, has flared wheel arches accommodating the 18” five spoke alloy wheels and a more powerful 420bhp, V8 power unit. To be expected, performance was very impressive with the big Bentley reaching 60mph in less than six seconds and a top speed of almost 170mph.Bentley employed a number of upgrades inside the cabin which gave buyers the choice of turned aluminium or a mahogany dashboard and waist rails. The red engine start button paid homage to Bentley’s famous racing history. The Continental T was a low production car with a total of just over 300 motor cars rolling off the production line at Crewe between 1996 and 2002 and as such will be recognised in the future as an important part of modern day Bentley history.
Supplied originally by Michael Powles Ltd on 24th November 1999, this Bentley is one of only 322 cars manufactured and had a capital cost when new of £234,000. Finished in the delightful colour combination of Sherwood Green with Cotswold interior complemented by a walnut dashboard and door tops, this Continental T has formed part of a private collection and presents in beautiful condition. When the car was not being used, the fastidious vendor has ensured it was professionally stored in a controlled environment. Having covered less than 30,000 miles in over 30 years, this has clearly been a highly cherished motor car. Accompanied by the original service books and a collection of invoices, the last service being carried out on 8th November 2019 was at 29,040 miles. Supplied with this rare and highly desirable Continental T is a V5C registration document and a full years MoT test certificate. Rarely do these Bentleys come onto the market place and an example as good as this is sure to appeal to collectors and enthusiasts alike."
