La Bentley Continental GT è una coupé gran turismo 2+2 prodotta dalla Bentley dal maggio 2003. Nel 2011 ne è stata presentata la seconda serie e nel 2018 la terza.
Nata per sostituire i vecchi modelli Bentley Continental R e T, la Continental GT è il nuovo modello con il quale la Bentley, entrata a far parte del Gruppo Volkswagen, ha posto fine alla lunga dipendenza dalla casa inglese Rolls-Royce durata quasi settant’anni. La nuova strategia aziendale, orientata alla volontà di rinascita del proprio marchio, ha contribuito a ridefinire con determinazione nuovi parametri stilistici, creando una nuova e più spiccata identità per i propri modelli di vetture.
Nonostante le dimensioni esterne siano rimaste invariate,
a nuova Continental GT appare decisamente più slanciata, riportando alla mente il taglio stilistico della concept EXP10 Speed 6. Ecco perché ora troviamo sbalzi anteriori e posteriori ridotti ma una distanza tra le ruote anteriori e gli sportelli aumentata. In questo modo il cofano appare più lungo rispettando la famosa “prestige mass” di Bentley secondo la quale la parte anteriore deve essere imponente perché cela un motore tosto.
Davanti al guidatore è montato il 6 litri W12, ma rivisto nella potenza: ora si parla di 635 cv e di una coppia mostruosa pari a 900 Nm. Il tutto si traduce in prestazioni da capogiro: 0-100 km/h di 3,7″ per una punta massima prossima ai 335 km/h. Come sul modello precedente la trazione è rimasta integrale ma questa volta ripartisce la coppia di norma solo sull’asse posteriore, chiamando in causa quello anteriore solo quando si verifica una perdita di aderenza. A completare il pacchetto ci pensano poi l’impianto frenante maggiorato e nuove sospensioni pneumatiche, senza dimenticare gli ultimi gingilli tecnologici in fatto di sicurezza e guida assistita disponibili sul mercato.
Stratosferica la qualità dei materiali e dei rivestimenti interni che potranno essere personalizzati a piacimento grazie al programma di personalizzazione Mulliner.
Anche per la Continental GT ora c’è un grande display da 12,3″ che si mimetizza alla perfezione con il resto della plancia. Ruotando su se stesso offre la possibilità di scegliere tra un rivestimento completamente “liscio”, lo schermo touch oppure un pannello con i tre indicatori circolari di bussola, termometro e cronometro.
