The third generation Bentley Continental GT is more athletic than ever and takes this desirable coupe to an unprecedented level. This is the exclusive First Edition, which is very extensively equipped. The car is owned by its second owner and was delivered in the Netherlands.

Like Rolls-Royce, Bentley stands for ultimate luxury, but with a touch of sportiness. This applies to the last generation Continental GT more than ever. In terms of design, it is an evolution, but technically and in terms of driving dynamics, it is an enormous step forward.

Whereas the first two generations were based on the Volkswagen Phaeton platform, the new Continental GT shares its platform with the Porsche Panamera. This means that the car is a lot more dynamic. The new Continental GT is also lighter than its predecessors, despite the fact that the car has become slightly larger.

Under the bonnet, there is still a mighty 6.0 litre W12 with two turbos. It now delivers no less than 635 hp and 900 Nm of torque. This Bentley is astoundingly fast. You can reach 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and the top speed is 333 km/h. And you can reach those speeds while bathing in luxury. With four people.

The fact that the third generation Continental GT is sportier than its predecessors is also reflected in the design. Although it is an evolution, the Continental looks more athletic and elegant. The biggest change are the graceful oval rear lights, which have the same shape as the exhausts. But the headlights are also pieces of art, with reflectors that almost look like Swarovski glasses. As beautiful as the exterior is, it becomes really sophisticated in the interior. Every detail is a feast for the eyes and together they form a beautiful package.

This example is the exclusive First Edition, with which Bentley introduced the model in 2017. This means that in addition to the luxury standard equipment, the car is also equipped with, among other things, the unique rotating display, special 22-inch wheels and three option packages (Mulliner Driving Specification, City Specification & Touring Specification). This example is also equipped with the Bang & Olufsen audio system. In short: a very well-equipped car, even by Bentley standards.

The current owner bought the car from the first owner with 15.000 km on the odometer. The car was delivered in the Netherlands and now has 72.700 km on the clock.

Our opinion

When you look at the new Continental GT, at first glance it looks a lot like its predecessors. But don't let that fool you: Bentley has really taken this model to the next level. It doesn't get any better than this if you want to drive from A to B quickly and relaxed. Not surprisingly, many Porsche (Turbo) drivers switched to this model.

Thanks to the chassis with the air suspension of the Porsche Panamera (with three air chambers), you actually buy two cars in one. A sporty GT, but also an extremely comfortable cruiser. Turn the dial to Comfort and you can easily drive to the South of France. Turn the dial to Sport and the Conti GT becomes surprisingly nimble, despite all the luxury on board. The Route Napoleon actually becomes an attractive alternative for the péage.

Talking about luxury: this is the First Edition, so you get just about all the options that are available on a modern car. We understand very well that the owner is only selling this Bentley because his next Bentley is on the way.

Modifications

The previous owner changed the chrome accents (e.g. the grille, decorative strips and exhausts) to black as in the Black Edition. Apart from that, the car is completely original.

Remarks

This Bentley is still in excellent condition. Only the paint on the exhaust has slightly flaked off due to the heat (see thecollectables.nl).

The car has always been serviced at the Bentley dealership. The main points from the recent maintenance history are:
