Description

"By the end of the 1980s, Rolls-Royce’s rebranding of Bentley which begun in 1982 with the launch of the Mulsanne Turbo and proved an outstanding success. However, the sales graph that had climbed steadily upwards until reaching a peak in 1989 only to plunge dramatically because of economic recession. Rolls-Royce responded by dropping the normally aspirated Mulsanne and Eight models and introduced the Brooklands in 1992. It was intended as a slightly cheaper alternative to the Bentley Turbo R, featuring the same styling and underpinnings of the Rolls-Royce 6.75 litre, V8 engine but without the more powerful model's turbocharger. It also retained the R’s sport suspension and adaptive damping control. First seen in the Continental R, the Brooklands’ new four speed automatic transmission boasted a floor-mounted shift lever, in keeping with the marques sporting traditions. The Brooklands continued Bentley's design theme which was also used on contemporary Rolls-Royce vehicles throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. The exterior design featured the classic Bentley grille as well as dual headlights with wrap-around parking lights. The interior remained relatively unchanged from previous Bentley models but with a more curvaceous design element surrounding the leather-wrapped centre console.
This lovingly maintained Bentley Brooklands was originally supplied by Jacksons in Poole, Dorset on 23rd March 1996 and has covered just over 45,000 miles from new, this is confirmed by the service and MoT test certificate history. The service book shows the car being serviced by Bentley main dealers until 2002, then by marque specialists, Sunningdale, until 2013. The last service is shown to be in 2017 when the car was purchased by the current owner and had covered 36,500 miles. Since then the car has been maintained by specialists including Royce Engineering, Platts of Marlow and MDM Technik Ltd. who have carried out any work necessary including the later doing some work to the brakes in September 2019 for the MoT test. Finished in Red Peal metallic with Sandstone leather hide, piped in red and matching red dash top roll and has burr walnut veneered woodwork, this low mileage Bentley Brooklands is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in September 2020, the original handbook and service book, two keys and a file containing invoices and old MoT test certificates. These Bentley’s from this period are superb value for money and gives a level of comfort and opulence which is second to none."
