Description

Autobleu was a small, short-lived French automobile maker based in Paris. The company was established in 1950 by Maurice Mestivier and Roger Lepeytre. Both were members of the board of the Independent Racing Driver Association. (AGACI) Its original business involved manufacturing components which buyers could use to make their Renault 4CVs go faster. 'La pipe' Autobleu was a famous sports exhaust made for Renault 4CV.
The Renault 4CV was France’s best selling car at this time and like in Italy with Fiat many small manufacturers used components of these cars.

Autobleu made a racing prototype for marketing the Autobleu brand. The model 750 Mille Miles. The car had a tubular frame and a tuned 750 cc engine with a streamlined ultra light body which was developed by the aerospace engineer Marcel Riffard and bodied by Carrosserie G.T.R.

In this car Jean Bianchi took part in the Mille Miglia in 1954, 1955 and entered again in the 1956 Mille Miglia. This one off Autobleu 750 Mille Miles ran the 12 Heures Internationales de Reims in 1956 where it finished 11th. Its last racing outing was in 1964 in the Coupe de Belgique.

After several French owners and German collector it came to the current Dutch enthusiast owner, never restored and still usable and he entered the car in the 2016 Mille Miglia. After its impressive past and recent ‘racing’ history the car was in need of a proper conservative restoration. Under our supervision our master craftsmen did an excellent job.

The body was taken of the chassis and repaired where necessary. The chassis needed only cleaning. All mechanics, suspension and brakes were rebuild. The work is well documented with pictures and invoices totaling around 100.000 Euro.

During the rebuild we showed the bare metal bodywork in an art exhibition at PAN Amsterdam!

The body was then repainted in the correct cellulose paint colour found in the car. After being finished in the 1955 specification the car was exposed at the 90 Years Mille Miglia exposition in the museum in Brescia. Soon after which the car entered the 2017 and 2018 Mille Miglia again.

After an impressive period racing history the Autobleu 750 Mille Miles participated in the 2005, 2006, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 Mille Miglia. This ultra light unique prototype racing car is now available for a new keeper. The car is accepted for the Oktober 2020 Mille Miglia. Dutch registered and accepted in the original MM car register, FIVA papers and comes with a very large history file.

A true one off piece of art.
