Description

"The history of this revolutionary motorcar is well known and its impact socially, culturally and mechanically is well documented. The Swinging Sixties, The Beatles, Twiggy and the Mini are inexorably combined to represent an era that is remembered with great fondness by many people. Very few classic cars have seen such a meteoric rise in values as the Mini has over the past five years. The Mini holds an iconic place in British motor car history and in the hearts and minds of any driver, it is safe to say no other car can spark a conversation in the same way with many people having owned a Mini and likely to have a story or two to tell. On its introduction in August 1959 the Mini was marketed under the Austin and Morris names, as the Austin Seven and Morris Mini-Minor. The Austin Seven was renamed Austin Mini in January 1962 and Mini became a marque in its own right in 1969. The early Minis have become particularly sought after with 1959 and 1960 examples difficult to find in original condition.
The supplied British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate shows this early Mini Seven to have been completed in the colour it still retains of Farina Grey. Supplied to the UK home market, its date of build and despatch was 4th May 1960, destined for Evans Motors Limited in Carmarthen, Wales. Supplied new with a heater, (essential in Wales), but with no other optional extras. The car retains its grey and blue leather cloth interior and presents well appearing very original throughout. Coming from part of a large private collection, the car is reported to run and drive very well and is now only for sale as part of a downsizing of the collection.
Supplied with a V5C registration document and BMIHT certificate and with incredibly only two former keepers, this wonderful example is a rare find in such original condition, especially with such low ownership.
