Description

"The Austin Mini Cooper S Mk. II had a distinctive look that set it apart from other cars of its time. The car's handling was also exceptional, thanks to its front-wheel drive and nimble suspension system, making it a popular choice for racing enthusiasts. Overall, the Austin Mini Cooper S Mk. II was a car that was ahead of its time, offering impressive performance, exceptional handling, and a distinctive design that still looks great today. It has become a classic car, which is highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike.
Purchased new by privateer rally driver Mr. Alfred Oetterli who used the car on many rallies and first registered it on 20th June 1969. Enjoyed for many years, this example was the vendors pride and joy and following his passing the car was registered to his wife in 2014 who has continued to use the car albeit less regularly. Offered to the open market for the first time since new it benefits from having recently been lightly recommissioned, although we would advise that further general work is undertaken before being used on regular basis. Accompanying the car is a sizeable history file detailing its one family owner history, various rally documents, previous registration documents, photos of the car in competition and the current V5C registration document. A fast road style car, fitted with roll cage, spotlights, and rally timing equipment. A very fun car with a one family owner history!
Interested parties should note that the V5C registration document and HPi report show the car to be an Austin Mini Cooper S with the chassis number ‘FE1353559’ however archives show that this number refers to a Mini front end body number. The original chassis number of the car cannot be identified. The registration document special notes also read ‘Rebuilt – Assembled from parts some or all of which were not new.’ As a rally car many parts inevitably will have been replaced and rebuilt and any interested parties should satisfy themselves with this example prior to purchase.
