Launched in 1959 by the British Motor Corporation, the Austin Seven and Morris Mini-Minor—dubbed the “Mini”—were an instant hit with the motoring public. Designed by Sir Alec Issigonis, the Mini could seat four, and its peppy 850 cc engine delivered excellent fuel economy. John Cooper—owner of the Cooper Car Company—worked with Issigonis to create the Mini Cooper, which made its public debut in September 1961. Mini Coopers featured a more powerful 56 PS, 997 cc powerplant. By February 1964, a larger 1,275 cc engine was available in “S” specification Coopers.

This 1966 Austin Mini Cooper S left the factory in February 1966 painted in Old English White with a Red and Grey Gold brocade interior. It was supplied with 1,275 cc engine, and oil cooler, and twin fuel tanks. Exported on 2 March 1966, this Cooper S was first registered on 14 September 1967 in Varese, Italy. It was acquired by its fifth owner on 30 September 1985, who retained the car until January 2014, when it was exported to Germany. It was then sold to the current owner, where it formed part of the consigning owner’s museum exhibition. As a result of its years on static display, buyers are recommended to carry out a mechanical exhibition prior to returning this car to road.

Today, this 1966 Austin Mini Cooper S retains its matching numbers 1,275 cc engine, and is finished in its factory correct colour of Old English White, with a Red and Grey Gold brocade interior.
