Description

The Austin A30 was launched at the 1951 Earls Court Motor Show as a small family car prior to going into full production in 1952. Austin continued building A30’s until the model was replaced by the A35 in 1956. Thanks to the success of events such as Goodwood Revival and Silverstone Classic, Julius Thurgood and his “Historic Racing Drivers Club” had a vision to assemble a one-marque series for the Austin A30/A35. A comprehensive set of rules and regulations were drawn up so all the cars would be very closely matched, resulting in very competitive racing. All cars would need to be road registered and would be powered by a sealed Classic and Modern Engine Services built engine. So successful was this series that the entire grid for the St. Marys Trophy at the 2016 Goodwood Revival was made up of these cars, with drivers including; Jason Plato, John Alesi, David Coultard, Rowan Atkinson, Chris Hoy, Darren Turner and many others.

The Austin A30 “HRDC Specification” offered here at Autostorico is a 1954 registered car, finished in Burgundy Red with contrasting White roof and Black interior trim. Purchased in 2015 by its current owner, this A30 has undergone a no expense spared nut and bolt conversion to HRDC specification by Chris Snowdon Racing of Bosham, West Sussex. The works began by removing all mechanical parts and shot blasting the car back to bare metal ready for new Fibre glass front wings, Bonnet, Boot lid and Bumpers which were fitted prior to painting. Moto-Build Racing of Surrey were then responsible for the Engine installation which had been built to HRDC specification by Classic and Modern Engine Services of Bracknell. Works also include HRDC specification front and rear suspension, full braking system, fuel system and race wheels. Upon the cars return to CS Racing further works were commissioned including; fitting of an FIA approved Roll cage, New HRDC wiring loom, TRS harnesses, Fire extinguisher, Battery isolator and Heated windscreen.

This is a perfect opportunity to own an un-raced, freshly built A30 ready for the season ahead at a fraction of the cost required to build it to the correct specification.

Supplied with a history file including invoices totalling in excess of £37,000 and a photographic record of the build.
