Trade-in car. Austin-Healey came about in 1952 because of Austin Motor Company’s Leonard Lord’s interest in the Donald Healey car brand. Austin bought the Donald Healey brand and combined the names together to form the now well-known Austin-Healey brand. In 1956 they introduced their first car with a 6-cylinder 2.6 litre engine out of the Austin Westminster, the Austin-Healey 100-6BN-4. In 1959 the 3000 series eventually hit the market. Our Big Healey is a 3000 MKII that was registered for the first time in the States in 1963. A few years ago a Dutch collector bought the car, hence its Dutch registration. In the past this MKII was fully restored and is still in good shape today. The paintwork is neat but not in the first flush of youth. The interior trim has been well maintained. The car drives well and is in good working order but as it came out of a collection, our advice would be to have the car thoroughly serviced. Underneath the car has a little bit of rust formation, nothing significant, but not quite perfect either. We have the Heritage Trust Certificate confirming the original factory colours of Colorado Red/Black. The engine too has been certified as an original, matching numbers one. The overdrive works really well and the car still has its original wire wheels. All in all a nice car with only some minor work. THIS VEHICLE IS IN OUR STORAGE, VIEWING BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
