Hexagon Classics are delighted to offer this very special example of the Austin Healey 3000 Mk 2.  This matching-numbers Healey has benefitted from large amounts of recent expenditure, to ensure that it presents to an extremely high standard, and further enhances an excellent driver’s car.

Originally supplied by the factory to the Donald Healey Motor Company of Warwick in June 1961, this Healey 3000 Mk 2 4-seater retains its valuable Warwickshire registration number of 2290 WD, and the low mileage is supported by the extensive history file and is believed to be correct.

The Healey’s fantastic rallying pedigree cemented its reputation for durability and toughness, recalling the likes of Pat Moss, Ann Wisdom, Timo Makinen and Paddy Hopkirk to name but a few. This is one of the illustrious “big” Austin Healeys that helped form the backbone of the hairy-chested English sports car legend.

With so many of these Healeys being exported to left-hand drive markets, a UK-supplied right-hand drive car is a rare thing indeed.  With a total of 4 owners since 1961, the Healey has benefited from a comprehensive re-build and enhancement by marque specialists, Rawles Motorsport, to make the car an even more attractive driver. Rawles rebuilt the engine to fast-road specification, which included an unleaded fuel conversion, Rawles inlet performance with new SU carburettors, manifold Mallory distributor, alternator, high torque starter, gearstick overdrive switch, stainless steel side exhaust.

More recently, the Healey has also had wing vents fitted, (which greatly help to keep one’s feet cool!), new wiring harness, Vredestein tyres, inertia reel seat belts, and a full repaint by Hexagon Classics’ body shop in the famous original Healey Ice Blue metallic. The Healey has its BMIHT certificate, and a wonderful history file detailing all the expert work carried out on the car.
