Description

Inspired by a BMC-sponsored competition for a new sports car using Austin mechanicals, Donald Healey’s “Hundred” roadster debuted at the 1952 London Motor Show. Over 100 speed and endurance records fell to it in the 1950s with the era’s top drivers, including a 142 mph mark at Bonneville. While produced in several variations through 1967, the original, first-series (BN1) Austin-Healey 100/4 is particularly coveted for its pure design and incomparable driving experience.

As documented by its accompanying British Motor Industry Heritage Trust (BMIHT) certificate, this 1955 Austin-Healey 100 BN1 Roadster is an original left-hand-drive export model, delivered new to Düsseldorf, Germany. Retaining the matching numbers engine, it benefits from nearly 30 years of care under the prior owner.

Handsomely presented in striking colors, this Austin-Healey is an ideal choice for local shows and fast touring. It is well equipped with correct Lucas fog and spot lamps, a badge bar, a Butler’s rally map light, and full weather gear including a soft top, tonneau, and side curtains in protective sleeves. Accompanying items include a spare tire, Thor hammer, emergency equipment, and owner’s handbook. The Healey benefits from a major service freshly completed by professionals, and while velocity stacks are currently mounted, with the original air cleaners included. Riding on black wire wheels mounting chrome knock-offs and Michelin tires, this 1955 Austin-Healey 100/4 is a highly equipped example of one of Britain’s most popular and important postwar sports cars.
