Building on the success of the first Audi R8 LMS, the German marque launched the LMS Ultra in 2012. The Ultra is powered by a 5.2-litre, 40-valve V-10 engine, generating 562 horsepower and 369 ft lb of torque, making it more powerful than its predecessor. Such is its performance potential, the car is capable of pulling 1.8 G in a corner and has a 0 to 60 mph time of 3.2 seconds. The Audi was equipped with a new pneumatically actuated six-speed sequential sports gearbox and improved oil coolers for the engine and gearbox fluids.

The R8 LMS Ultra was lighter, too, weighing in 40 kilograms less than the standard car at 1,250 kilograms. The Ultra had revised aerodynamics, including a larger rear wing and improved air flow at the front of the car to aid cooling of both the engine and cabin. The doors are made from carbon fibre-reinforced plastic, a development in technology that was new to Audi at the time. All of these updates would make the R8 LMS Ultra highly competitive, and it would triumph in the 2012 24 Hours of Nürburgring with a 1-2 finish, a first for Audi. The R8 LMS Ultra would also go on to win at the 24 Hours of Spa.

This LMS Ultra, chassis number 0516, was ordered on 12 March 2012, at a cost of €392,581. It was finished in white, and has a factory-fitted roll cage, with these options totalling €25,000. Raced by Saintéloc Racing between 2014 to 2016, the car still sports the team’s livery. In 2014, chassis number 0516 attained 3rd overall in the Blancpain Endurance Series, 2nd at Monza, 4th at Silverstone, and 4th in the 24 Hours of Spa. In the 2015 Blancpain Endurance Series, the car’s best results were 9th at Monza and 7th at the Nürburgring. It is offered today with a copy of the original 2012 sales invoice copy from Audi AG Deutschland, as well as historical information from Saintéloc Racing.
