HISTORY/DOCUMENTATION
Unique! This Audi 80 has an original mileage of just 8,487 kilometres and is in absolutely top condition, virtually as it rolled off the production line in Ingolstadt back then. It is a luxury GL (Grand Luxe) specification, featuring chrome trim strips and a more luxurious interior, amongst other things. Another special feature is the original documentation that still accompanies the car: an authentic registration certificate, owner’s manual, delivery document and original invoice. The Audi was registered and delivered in Trieste, Italy, on 12 October 1979. The Audi has always been owned by the same person and therefore comes directly from its first owner! The car and its documentation have been well preserved in Italy over the years and were recently brought back from Italy by us. The original price was 6,670,000 Italian lire. Several original keys are also included with the car. Original tax and insurance documents are located behind the windscreen. The original registration number is “TS 225381”.

EXTERIOR
The Audi is in an exceptionally original and neat condition, with no damage and excellent fitment of body panels. All windows are still original. The windows are tinted and the rear window is heated. The lights, rubber seals and chrome trim are in original but very good condition. The same applies to the chrome-plated wheel trims on the 13-inch rims. A notable feature is that all the tyres are still original! The DOT code is 359 (week 35, 1979). These are (naturally German-made) Continental tyres with sufficient tread remaining and in good condition, but replacement is, of course, advisable for safe driving. The excellent paintwork is finished in the beautiful original colour ‘Mexico Beige’ (colour code LE 1 M). Despite the sunny climate in Italy, the original paintwork has not faded but remains in very good condition with a lovely sheen. It is clear that the car has been stored indoors.

INTERIOR
The interior features very attractive sand-coloured velour upholstery, beige fabric trim and luxurious burgundy floor mats. These floor mats are sound-insulating, something Audi placed great emphasis on at the time. They also feature Air circulation and safety were also top priorities for Audi. The dashboard is functional and clearly laid out. Next to the odometer are a fuel economy gauge and a clock. The dashboard is finished in black faux leather and is in immaculate condition. The headlining is in mint condition. The entire interior is in excellent condition with no damage. It’s as if time has stood still! The number of times the rear doors have been opened can probably be counted on one hand. The – surprisingly spacious – boot is also in very good condition and includes the spare wheel, spare bulbs and a jack.

TECHNICAL
In 1979, the Audi 80 was available with four different 4-cylinder engines: a 1.3-litre engine, two 1.6-litre engines with carburettors and a 1.6-litre engine with fuel injection. This particular car is a 1.3-litre version (1,272 cc) with carburettors and 60 pk. With a fuel consumption of 1/14.9, it is very economical. Coupled with a smooth 4-speed gearbox and front-wheel drive, the car offers a fine balance between comfort, sportiness and safety. Disc brakes are fitted at the front, with drum brakes at the rear. The underbody of the car is in rock-solid, rust-free condition. The engine bay is exceptionally clean and dry. The Audi drives, changes gear and brakes well.

GENERAL
The 1979 Audi 80 GL belongs to the second generation of the Audi 80 (B2), a model that played a key role in Audi’s growth as a premium brand. The Audi 80 was introduced in 1972 as the successor to the Audi F103 series, which included the Audi 60, 75, 80 and Super 90. With its modern technology, relatively low weight and efficient engines, the Audi 80 was an instant success. In 1973, the model was even named European Car of the Year, a significant accolade for Audi, which was still a relatively small brand at the time. This second generation featured a completely redesigned body, more interior space and a wider range of engines. The B2 later also formed the basis for the legendary Audi Coupé and the first Audi quattro, with which Audi established its reputation in the field of four-wheel drive.

GESCHICHTE/DOKUMENTATION
Einzigartig! Dieser Audi 80 hat einen Original-Kilometerstand von nur 8.487 Kilometern und befindet sich in absolut erstklassigem Zustand, fast so, wie er damals in Ingolstadt vom Band lief. Es handelt sich um eine luxuriös ausgestattete GL-Ausführung (Grand Luxe) mit unter anderem Chromzierleisten und einer edleren Innenausstattung. Besonders bemerkenswert ist auch die originale Dokumentation, die noch zum Fahrzeug gehört: ein authentischer Fahrzeugschein, eine Bedienungsanleitung, ein Auslieferungsbeleg und die Originalrechnung. Am 12. Oktober 1979 wurde der Audi in Triest, Italien, zugelassen und ausgeliefert. Der Audi war stets im Besitz desselben Eigentümers und stammt somit vom Erstbesitzer! Das Fahrzeug und die Unterlagen wurden über die Jahre in Italien gut aufbewahrt und vor kurzem von uns aus Italien abgeholt. Der Neupreis betrug 6.670.000 italienische Lire. Außerdem liegen dem Fahrzeug mehrere Originalschlüssel bei. Hinter der Windschutzscheibe befinden sich die originalen Steuer- und Versicherungsunterlagen. Das originale Kennzeichen lautet „TS 225381“.

AUSSEN
Der Audi befindet sich in einem außergewöhnlich originalen und gepflegten Zustand, ohne Beschädigungen und mit hervorragendem Passgenauigkeit der Karosserieteile. Alle Scheiben sind noch original. Die Scheiben sind getönt und die Heckscheibe ist beheizbar. Beleuchtung, Dichtungen und Chromteile befinden sich in einem originalen, aber sehr gepflegten Zustand. Gleiches gilt für die verchromten Zierkappen auf den 13-Zoll-Felgen. Besonders bemerkenswert ist, dass die Reifen rundum noch original sind! Der DOT-Code lautet 359 (Woche 35, 1979). Es handelt sich um (natürlich deutsche) Continental-Reifen mit noch ausreichendem Profil, die sich in gutem Zustand befinden; für ein sicheres Fahrverhalten ist jedoch natürlich ein Austausch wünschenswert. Die hervorragende Lackierung wurde in der wunderschönen Originalfarbe „Mexico Beige“ (Farbcode LE 1 M) lackiert. Die Original-Lackierung ist trotz des sonnigen Klimas in Italien nicht verblasst, sondern befindet sich noch in einem sehr gepflegten Zustand mit einem schönen Glanz. Man sieht, dass das Auto in einer Garage untergestellt war.

INNENAUSSTATTUNG
Der Innenraum ist mit sehr schöner sandfarbener Velours-Polsterung, beigen Stoffbezügen und luxuriösen burgunderroten Fußmatten ausgestattet. Diese Fußmatten sind schalldämmend, worauf Audi damals großen Wert legte. Auch Luftzirkulation und Sicherheit standen bei Audi ganz oben auf der Prioritätenliste. Das Armaturenbrett ist funktional und übersichtlich gestaltet. Neben dem Kilometerzähler befinden sich eine Verbrauchsanzeige und eine Uhr. Das Armaturenbrett ist mit schwarzem Kunstleder bezogen und befindet sich in makellosem Zustand. Der Dachhimmel ist neuwertig. Der gesamte Innenraum befindet sich in einem hervorragenden Zustand ohne Beschädigungen. Als ob die Zeit stehen geblieben wäre! Die Male, die die hinteren Türen geöffnet wurden, lassen sich wahrscheinlich an einer Hand abzählen. Auch der – überraschend geräumige – Kofferraum befindet sich in einem sehr gepflegten Zustand und verfügt über das Reserverad, Ersatzglühbirnen und einen Wagenheber.

TECHNISCH
Der Audi 80 war 1979 mit vier verschiedenen 4-Zylinder-Motoren erhältlich: einem 1,3-Liter-Motor, zwei 1,6-Liter-Motoren mit Vergasern und einem 1,6-Liter-Motor mit Einspritzung. Bei diesem Exemplar handelt es sich um eine 1,3-Liter-Version (1.272 cm³) mit Vergasern und 60 PS. Der Verbrauch ist mit 1/14,9 als sehr sparsam zu bezeichnen. In Verbindung mit einem leichtgängigen 4-Gang-Getriebe und Frontantrieb bietet das Fahrzeug eine gelungene Balance zwischen Komfort, Sportlichkeit und Sicherheit. An der Vorderachse sind Scheibenbremsen montiert, an der Hinterachse Trommelbremsen. Der Unterboden des Fahrzeugs befindet sich in einem makellosen, rostfreien Zustand. Der Motorraum ist außergewöhnlich sauber und trocken. Der Audi fährt, schaltet und bremst gut.
