Description
This late-production example of the second series of Aston Martin’s V8 Volante claims a pampered life of minimal use and very few owners, resulting in a superb open-top edition of this beloved British grand touring car.
As reflected in an original sales document from Aston Martin Lagonda North America Inc., this Volante was factory equipped with a heavy-duty oil cooler, dual stainless-steel exhaust, ventilated disc brakes, Koni shocks, and a limited-slip differential. Finished in York Red, the Aston Martin was trimmed with tan Connolly leather and appointed with Wilton wool carpeting, burled walnut trim, and a rare four-piece factory luggage set upholstered in matching leather. An Alpine sound system was added prior to customer delivery as a dealer-added option.
Sold new through Star Motor Cars in Houston, Texas, to the founder of a local manufacturing company, the Volante was driven sparingly and regularly serviced in the care of its original owner. In August 2003, the 8,000-mile car was sold to its second caretaker, a Minnesota resident. In late 2012, the V8 Volante was purchased by its third owner, a collector residing in Scarsdale, New York. Serviced by local marque specialist Autosport Designs in 2013, the Aston Martin was treated to a new air-conditioning compressor, fresh suspension and brake bushings, and a new high-performance radiator core.
Currently showing approximately 15,000 miles, this well-sorted and highly original Volante is a particularly appealing example of the iconic Aston Martin V8 series.
