Footnote:
Although always intended to employ the new Tadek Marek-designed V8, the William Towns-styled DBS first appeared in October 1967 with the 4-litre 6-cylinder engine of the DB6, production of which overlapped the DBS for three years. Larger and more luxuriously appointed than the DB6, the four-seater DBS employed a platform-type chassis with independent suspension all round – wishbone and coil springs at the front, De Dion with Watts linkage at the rear.
From 1969, the new car was also available with the 5340cc 8-cylinder engine and, with an estimated 345bhp available from its fuel-injected four-cam motor, a V8-powered DBS could reach 100 mph in less than 14 seconds and run on to a top sp
