Description

- 1 of 402 DBS V8s
- Full Restoration and Engine overhaul completed in the last decade
- Great history file with a plethora of images, invoices and certificates

The DBS V8 was originally available in spring of 1970 adding to the Aston Martin line-up alongside the DBS 6 and the DB6 MK2. The William Towns designed DBS was always meant to house Tadek Mareks V8 however issues at the 1967 Le Mans, where an early version was housed in a Lola-Aston Martin T70 MkIII, set back the use of the 5.0L unit until 1970 and the previous 4.0L 6 cylinder was used in its place.

Once the DBS V8 was in production, the 5340cc V8 was fitted with Bosch Fuel Injection and was capable of propelling the grand tourer up to 160 mph, with a 0-60mph in 5.9 seconds. The DBS V8 was one of the fastest production cars in the world and although no power figures where provided by Aston Martin in period, numbers in the 310-320 bhp range are generally accepted.

Aston Martin Works are proud to offer for sale this excellent 1972 example. Finished in Pacific Blue with Fawn leather interior, this example also features an excellent history featuring details of a full nut and bolt restoration that took place in 2010 as well as a £28,000 engine overhaul and refurbishment. The engine overhaul included an upgrade that honed the cylinders out from the original 5.3L to 5.6L giving a dynamometer result of 342bhp and 399lb/ft of torque, along with the use of revised pistons meaning that the engine likely runs smoother and more powerfully than when it left the factory.
