Description

1970 ASTON MARTIN DB6 MK2

Last of the line, the distinguished DB6 Mk2 built for just 1 year, in tandem with the DBS, offered more comfortable seating, an improved transmission and power assisted steering, with wider wheel and tyres giving greater levels of grip, improved road holding and braking. The substantial improvements over the earlier DB6, suitably justified the Mk2 designation.

The Mk2 we are offering, one of a total of just 244 built, was manufactured and delivered new in 1970, finished in Dubonnet Rosso with Natural hide, as presented today. Subsequently enjoyed by three owners, one for some 20 years, regular maintenance and upgrades have been carried by renowned specialists R S Williams Ltd, including a complete engine rebuild in 2013, to 4.2 Litre specification and transmission change to original specification ZF 5-speed. Some 6,000 miles have been covered since the rebuild and the car has now covered, just 56,000 miles in total.

Easily identified by subtly flared wheel arches, accommodating the wider wheel and tyre equipment, the stance and road appearance of the DB6 Mk2, remains a favourite with collectors and enthusiasts for its balanced appearance, it’s improved dynamics and low production number.

Included with the car is a substantial service and maintenance history file, dating back to 1980 and containing multiple invoices and MOT certificates, confirming the limited mileage covered, a 2013 post engine rebuild dyno sheet confirming an output of 280 bhp, a copy of the original Aston Martin build record, original buff log book and a variety of period invoices and correspondence, from the cars previous owners.

An extremely well preserved and expertly maintained example, this highly original DB6 Mk2, finished in its original colours, has a delightful patina in all respects and is a testament to the extensive maintenance carried out over the years. Wonderful to drive and in excellent overall condition, the car is supplied to its next custodian complete with a scheduled service and detailed preparation prior to delivery along with 12 months MOT and warranty.
