Description

Frequently referred to as the most famous car in the world, the Aston Martin DB5 Coupe retains a place in the hearts of many, as the beloved car of national hero and fictional secret agent James Bond, agent 007, who’s refined tastes are well chronicled.

More exclusive still, is the Aston Martin DB5 Convertible. The preferred choice in period of stars of the silver screen, royalty and those few with pockets deep enough for this exclusive model, and now coveted by connoisseur collectors world-wide.

Offered between 1965 and 1966 at the then cost of a medium sized house and considerably more expensive than the Bond’s coupe variety, only 123 DB5 convertibles were manufactured and made available for global distribution, before production ended.

Owners such as fashion icon Ralph Lauren, Supermodel Elle Macpherson and film star Peter Sellers, are amongst other household names who occupy the roll call of owners and drivers of the Aston Martin DB5 Convertible. Beautifully proportioned, this rare DB5 model can safely be described as the preserve of the few.

Restored to Concours standards by award-winning experts between 2014 and 2018, the absolutely stunning example we are delighted to bring to market, was built in 1965 to UK RHD specifications and exported to California, for the celebrated Hollywood film and theatre screen writer, producer and playwright Bill Manhoff, whose credits include ‘The Odd Couple’ and ‘The Owl and the Pussycat’.

Changing hands in 1973, the car was relocated to New York where it was owned and enjoyed by inventor, British car enthusiast and industrialist Seymour Kaback, whose fortune was no doubt bolstered by having invented air conditioner systems for elevators.

Remaining in RHD whilst in the USA, this car was last purchased by a renowned collector and repatriated to the UK in 2014. On arrival, this superb low mileage car, received a total restoration by award winning UK restorers, credited with many class winning Pebble Beach and European Concours winning restorations. Absolutely no corner was cut in the restoration of this rare and superbly specified DB5 convertible.

Having covered 200 miles of road testing since completion, the car is presented fully prepared and ready to grace any collection, be judged in any concours or indeed as originally intended, be enjoyed on the open roads.

Exquisitely finished in Tudor Grey paintwork with Navy Blue hides and matching mohair type roof, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a DB5 Convertible, by far and away the most desirable version of the world’s most famous car.
