Description

With the DB5 (and with a little help from James Bond of course), Aston Martin became a household name and cemented itself as one of the world's truly great automotive marques. Considered to be one of the most beautiful – and coolest – cars ever designed, the DB5 has become a truly modern legend.

This DB5 has crossed the Atlantic twice and was sold via 'Bonhams' auctioneers in 2013 after which it was consigned to Aston Martin Works in Newport Pagnell for a full, body-off restoration. Having covered just shy of 100,000 miles, this Aston required an extensive restoration programme and the results surely speak for themselves.

Before its return to the UK in 2013, other than knowing it was purchased in 2007 by the previous owner and consigned to dry storage in Arizona, USA soon after, not much is known of this DB5’s history since it left the factory in 1964. However, we are continuing the search with the help of the Aston Martin Heritage Trust.

The car was returned to its as-built specification of Sierra Blue with a Beige interior. The engine was uprated to 4.2 litres running a limited slip differential via the ZF 5 speed manual gearbox. As part of the restoration, the rear suspension's lever arm dampers were replaced with adjustable shock absorbers running inside the springs and the steering has been uprated to EZ electric power steering, very welcome for manoeuvring and low driving speeds.

For security, the car has a central locking system with immobiliser fitted and a tracker installed - with the tracker subscription running to December 2023. Lastly, a modern audio system has been sympathetically installed behind the original speaker grill.

As befits a car having undergone a restoration at the famous Aston Martin Works, so it comes with a full breakdown of the works undertaken over the near 3 years it took. The whole process was thoroughly documented in a book detailing the restoration aspects, packed with scores of beautiful photographs from start to finish – this book alone is a work of art.

Since this DB5's restoration was completed in 2015, the car has done just over 1,000 miles, all in dry weather, has been professionally stored and with all servicing works undertaken by marque specialists Chicane. The car has just had a complete and professional detailing programme undertaken by specialists 'Auto Curators' in Hampshire, including a ceramic coating of the lustrous paintwork.

This is a most beautiful DB5, restored in every way possible by Aston Martin Lagonda itself and incorporating the sort of 21st century upgrades designed to bring the most out of this iconic car. With a recent service just completed, this fabulous Aston Martin - and guaranteed investment - is raring to be unleashed on the open roads once more.

This DB5 is available for viewing and demonstration in our Hampshire showroom by appointment only. For peace of mind as a new owner, this Aston will be sold with a full pre-sale inspection by Chicane and 12 months MOT. Full details available on request.
