This DB4 was originally delivered on 20th March 1963 as one of 31 ‘Series 5 Vantage’ coupes constructed with covered headlights and ‘Special Series’ high performance engine, the specification of which included three SU Carburettors rather than two as per the standard DB4
Delivered by main agents Brooklands of Bond Street, the right hand drive DB4 was registered ‘432 FLD’ and was originally finished in Goodwood Green coachwork with a Fawn interior. After the DB4 was delivered to Brooklands of Bond Street they immediately enlisted it as their demonstrator, as evidenced on the copy of the original build sheet (on file)

In addition to its early life as demonstrator, the car was featured in a comprehensive road test by ‘Car and Driver’ in the July 1963 issue and also appeared regularly in the British TV Series “The Sentimental Agent”, a television drama series spin-off from Man of the World produced in the United Kingdom in 1963 by Associated Television and distributed by ITC Entertainment. It starred Carlos Thompson as Argentinian Carlos Varela, a successful import-export agent based in London whose vehicle of choice was this very car

Some years later the DB4 was acquired by a collector in Germany and was subsequently cosmetically and mechanically restored over a period of years culminating in 2001, refinished in period correct ‘California Sage’ coachwork whilst retaining the majority of its original interior, engine rebuild etc

Equipped with a period radio, desirable Harvey Bailey Handling kit, updated Koni shock absorbers and the essential Kenlowe fan. This DB4 was also featured in James Taylors definitive book ‘Factory-Original Aston Martin DB4/5/6’ published in 2014

This DB4 retains its original matching numbers ‘Special Series’ engine, original UK registration and has exceptional provenance making it one of the most desirable Aston Martin models from the period. Offered from a private collection with a comprehensive history file
