Produced between September 1961 and October 1962, the Series IV was distinct from earlier DB4s due to its recessed rear lights, a lowered bonnet scoop, and redesigned front grille. Many regard it as the most attractive model.
This example is one of a handful sold new to the United States, being delivered to J. Louis Webb of Delray, Florida in December 1961. According to a copy of the factory build sheet, this DB4 was specified in Midnight Blue over White Gold Connolly leather.
Chassis DB4/805/L remained in the country but by 1963 had been acquired by an R. Hokin. The car’s complete history is unknown, though it resurfaced in 1986 when it was bought by Steve Serio of Waban, Massachusetts, whose ownership lasted 18 months. The DB4 was subsequently exported to France before it joined The Curated Collection in 2003.
The car gained older restoration work during the 2000s but more recently has been fully restored by Clark & Carter. Work included boring out the matching-numbers straight-six to 4.2 litres. Beautifully presented in its factory colour combination, this DB4 would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
