Debuting at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016, the DB11 replaced the successful DB9 and was marketed as a grand tourer. As the first model released in Aston Martin’s ‘second century’ plan and the initial car to emerge from the company’s collaboration with Daimler AG, the DB11 continued the brand’s tradition of design emphasizing 1:3 proportions while introducing several new and unique features.
Unlike previous Aston Martin models, the DB11 employed an all-new, riveted and adhesive-bonded aluminum platform that emphasized stampings over extrusions.
As a result, more cockpit space was created, and this platform served as the basis for future Aston Martin models, including the Vantage. Additionally, the car’s bonnet utilized a ‘clam-shell’ design composed of a single piece of aluminum.
In a show of dedication to quality, CEO Andy Palmer personally inspected the first 1,000 cars. The DB11 Volante, a convertible version of the car, was introduced by Aston Martin in 2018.
Sharing the same 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine as the DB11 V8 coupe, the DB11 Volante boasts a front/rear weight distribution of 47/53 and delivers additional torque for enhanced performance.
With the ability to accelerate from 0-100 kilometers per hour in 4.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 300 km/h, the car is a thrilling ride.
ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC EXAMPLE
This beautiful Aston Martin DB11 Volante was first delivered to a customer in Germany and was very well specified in a beautiful color combination.
In november 2021, the car was bought via the German Aston Martin dealer in Kempen and registered on Dutch license plates and it still wears that registration.
Rarely we have seen a DB11 in a colour combination as stunning as this example.
The car is finished in the rare shade of Ultramarine Black (which is a very dark blue) The car seems to be black but once the car appears in the sunlight, one can see the stunning deep, dark blue colour.
To finish it off the lighter shade of the Dark Night interior contrasts beautifully with its exterior colour. Close the roof and one can see the matching Dark Night folding roof.
In our opinion, the DB11 Volante is one of the few cars that looks beautiful with its roof up, as well with the roof down.
The Aston drove only 22.000 kilometers since new and was recently service in October 2022 at the Aston Martin dealer Royal Motors GmbH in Kempen, Germany.
CONDITION EXTERIOR
The exterior of this Aston Martin DB11 can be described as impressively nice, without any visible signs of wear.
The front and side parts which can obtain stone chips have been covered with a thin plastic to avoid any damages.
The Ultramarine Black paint has a beautiful deep shine and the diamond cut wheels show no signs of use or parking damages.
This particular car is in a collector’s condition.
A cool feature that is rarely seen on other cars, is that the bonnet of the car has soft close. Normally this option can be found on closing the doors of the car, but with the DB11 when you lower the bonnet, it automatically closes itself.
CONDITION INTERIOR
The interior is especially noteworthy, as it exudes luxury and sophistication with its use of sumptuous natural materials, including ample amounts of hand-stitched leather and the option of real wood finishes.
Unlike many modern cars, plastic is used sparingly throughout the cabin, off-course not with an Aston Martin.
Amongst the use of beautiful materials, Aston Martin’s insane attention to detail is also evident with modern features such as Sat Nav, heated and cooling electric seats, and Bluetooth connectivity.
All switch-gear is thoughtfully placed for easy accessibility. In this specific example, the car’s audio system has been upgraded to the Bang & Olufsen Beo Sound system, complete with high-frequency speakers that rise impressively from the dashboard when the stereo is activated.
DRIVING EXPERIENCE
Driving the Aston Martin DB11 is an absolute dream. The dream starts when pushing the starter button on the dashboard.
We dare to say that the car has three distinctive characters as 3 options can be chosen for driving experience.
Standard the DB11 can be driven as a very comfortable GT car but the car can also become seriously aggressive by selecting the Sport or even the Sport Plus mode.
