First registered on 21 April 2017, this Aston Martin DB11 is an exceptional example of the next-generation British super-GT. Beautifully presented in Magnetic Silver with Obsidian Black interior and Tailors Grey alcantara headlining, it was previously sold via Aston Martin’s Timeless Certified Pre-Owned scheme, and the Certificate of Inspection is included in the car’s file.

The DB11 was well specified as standard and, among a great many other features, this example comes with heated electric seats, climate control, keyless entry and start, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, and an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

On top of the standard features came a virtually endless number of options for the exterior and interior, allowing the original owner to tailor their DB11 to their exact specification. On the outside, this particular car comes with options such as 10-spoke Gloss Black diamond turned wheels, a bright finish to the front grille, and a body-coloured roof.

Inside, there’s the Bang & Olufsen BeoSound audio system, while the door inserts and fascia are finished in the distinctive Satin Chopped Carbon. It also has the Satin Silver Jewellery Pack that provides brighter highlights to the cabin, contrast stitching throughout, and Warm Charcoal seatbelts.

The Aston Martin DB11 not only has an immense amount of presence thanks to its dramatic styling, it is a hugely fast and comfortable GT that has rightly been lauded by the motoring press for its driving dynamics. It has successfully taken Aston Martin into a new era, and the Classic Motor Hub is proud to offer this DB11 for sale. Fastidiously maintained throughout its short life, it was serviced by Aston Martin Bristol on 13 July 2021 and there is still one service left on its Service Plan.

MODEL HISTORY

There have been a number of significant models throughout Aston Martin’s occasionally turbulent history, and the DB11 certainly fits into that category. As the first model to be launched under the marque’s ambitious ‘Second Century’ plan, it was vital that Aston Martin got it right. The reception that the DB11 received when it was launched in 2016 proved that the company had done just that.

The DB11 was a radical departure from the DB9 that it replaced, and dispensed with Aston Martin’s VH platform in favour of an all-new structure that was lighter and stiffer than before, and which was produced in such a way that it allowed for more interior space. A shorter version of this platform was subsequently used for the new Vantage model.

While Aston Martin had recently entered into a technical partnership with Mercedes-Benz, the V12 DB11 was powered by a 5,204cc engine that was designed and developed by Aston Martin itself. It produced 600bhp at 6,500rpm and 516b ft of torque from 1,500-5,000rpm, and the fact that it was turbocharged was a first for a production Aston Martin. It gave a top speed of 200mph and a 0-62mph time of only 3.9 seconds. A V8 version was later added that used a Mercedes-AMG engine.

It was the marque’s stated intention to more clearly differentiate its various models, and the styling team working under Marek Reichman came up with a striking new look for its latest super-GT. The wheelbase was 65mm longer than on the DB9, but overall length increased by only 50mm. The front and rear track were 74mm and 43mm wider respectively, but the overall width was up by only 28mm.

The steering, meanwhile, was electrically assisted for the first time rather than hydraulic, and the engine drove through a rear-mounted eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox. Intentionally more of a GT than a sports car, the DB11 had three suspension settings for the driver to scroll through – GT, Sport and Sport Plus. Autocar magazine noted that even the first of those setting was enough to give the DB11 ‘the amazing breadth of dynamic ability you’ll want from it most of the time.’

Such was the DB11’s importance to Aston Martin that chief executive Andy Palmer claimed that he’d personally sign off the first 1,000 cars. The V8 model joined the V12 in mid-2017, and a Volante convertible was unveiled in 2018, before the DB11 V12 itself morphed into a refined and upgraded version known as the DB11 AMR.
