Designed by Augustus Bertelli, the Aston Martin International was first shown to the public at the 1928 Motor Show where it attracted much attention; a contemporary road test showed a top speed of 81mph, but it is thought that 90mph was a more realistic figure depending on the back-axle ratio. It is seldom realised these days how small the output of this little factory was - for example in 1930 (which was a relatively good year) only 64 cars were built. In 1932 only 25 cars were made for sale to the public, but Bertelli and Driscoll won the Biennial Cup at Le Mans, followed by many competition successes before the International was replaced by the Le Mans and Ulster models between 1933 and 1936.
Many private owners entered for all kinds of competitions and team drivers included Sammy Davis, Eddie Hall, Cyril
