This extremely rare Arnolt Bristol that we have the privilege to introduce is a Deluxe Roadster version. According to information from the Bristol Owners Club and verified by historical records from the Arnolt's family, this would be the last fully manufactured car from the original production to be sold new by the Arnolt garages. The car was completed and shipped to the USA in 1959 and remained in stock at the Hoosier International Motors dealership in Warsaw (Indiana) until 1968, the latter had taken over the automotive assets of Arnolt's succession following Wacky's death in 1963. At that time, the car was modified towards the front. This explains why this example is the only one to be fitted with four headlights and without the "original" bumpers.
It was acquired by a Mr S. in 1968 after intense negotiations. He drove it for almost 25,000 miles until his passing in the second half of the 1990s. His widow then donated the car to the Classic Car Museum in Sarasota, Florida. This astonishing Arnolt Bristol was then sold in 1999 to a German in Hamburg by Martin Godbey at the "Vintage Motors of Sarasota", museum's owner and curator following its acquisition in 1997. This roadster was still in its original "rosso rubino" colour when it arrived in Europe at the beginning of the 2000s, combined with a black leather interior and a light grey piping finish; it had however already been fitted with a double aluminium exhaust. This German enthusiast had the car repainted in white, got the odometer replaced with one in kilometre and installed bucket seats with Sabelts belts. It is from one of his contacts in the Bristol world that our collector will purchase it in this condition in 2007. For him, it was more about acquiring a rare and coherent piece for his collection rather than driving this interesting Anglo-Italian roadster as it currently displays a mileage of only 112km. This is a Deluxe version of the Arnolt Bristol roadster with windshield, aviation type dashboard, door-opening push buttons and cowling system, as well as original seats upholstered in leather, which will be supplied with the car.
It is currently in good aesthetical condition and has a lovely paint job and sound base, even though chromed items show traces of natural oxidation. The car has not been driven in recent years and will therefore require a complete mechanical service. Equipped with a 6-cylinder Bristol engine of 1971 cc, topped with 3 Solex 32-millimeter carburettors, the engine bay is indeed in its original condition. Sheltered in the boot with the spare wheel and in addition to the tonneau cover, the soft top and side-screens are included with the car. With only a small amount produced, the Arnolt Bristol are dedicated to an insider audience, who will acknowledge that this model with unique characteristics represents an exceptional opportunity.
