- Rare B38 Roadster
- Revolutionary concept
Released in 1938, the Amilcar B38 known as “Compound” which means in French “compound” was a revolutionary car at the time thanks to its chassis cast in alpax, a light alloy based on aluminum. Taken over by Hotchkiss, the Amilcar brand benefits from a new style office from which Clément Vinciguerra, the designer to whom we owe this elegant roadster. Also available as a coach and discoverable coach, it is the roadster that remains the most difficult to find to this day. There are only 70 copies left. The B38 Compound Roadster is powered by a small 1185cc 4 cylinder developing 33 horsepower. The 4 wheels are independent and the 4 speed gearbox is synchronized on 3rd and 4th gears.
This Amilcar B38 Compound Roadster is not complete and constitutes a restoration project. The body is in generally good condition but the floors will have to be redone. The benches are absent but many accessories are delivered with the car. On the mechanical side, the engine block is present but will require a complete overhaul like the whole car.
