This car, which has been in the department of Isère for 30 years, has had only two owners since 1996. The first was an Alpine and Renault 5 Turbo enthusiast and the second a very demanding collector who made the car more reliable so that he could take part in regularity rallies, which he did successfully during the 2000s. In 2021, several jobs were done on the car. The engine, a Renault 5 Alpine in Group 2 trim, was rebuilt by G'Motors, at Versoud, with control of the cylinder head, replacement of valves, guides, connecting rod and crankshaft bearings. At the same time, the brakes were overhauled and the bill for these mechanical interventions exceeds €9,000. With current power approaching 120bhp, the engine has been mated to the highly sought-after five-speed gearbox from the 1600 S. The bodywork was entrusted to specialist Moreno Automobiles (Avignonet), who removed the windows and hubcaps before painting it in a brighter color than the original one.
Thus, more than €20,000 has recently been spent to make this Alpine a usable and reliable car. The reason why the owner is parting with it, is because it has become too spartan for him, but it is ready for another enthusiast to take the car for historic regularity rallies such as the Tour Auto or the Tour de Corse, where its dynamics will do wonders.
