Alpina sought to fundamentally change the DNA of the beautiful Z8. The standard BMW 4.9-litre V-8 was replaced by a smaller, different-type 4.8-litre unit and a six-speed manual gearbox made way for a five-speed automatic transmission in an effort to drop any sporting pretence and instead embrace the two-door convertible’s inherent grand-touring credentials.

Just 555 of the resulting Alpina Roadster V8s were built, and a massive 450 of those were exported to the United States. Of the remaining 105 cars, this 66th example was configured in Titansilber over a Red Nappa leather interior featuring Black inserts and was delivered new to Switzerland in May 2003.

Stamps in the service book indicate that the car had moved to Germany by the mid-2000s, before it was subsequently acquired by The Best of M Collection in November 2015. Accompanied by its hardtop roof with stand, wind deflector, tool roll, Motorola flip phone, and owner’s guides, this Alpina Roadster V8 is fresh from a May 2025 service by Autoleth A/S of Haderslev in Denmark and displayed 19,567 kilometres at the time of cataloguing.
