Description
"Internally known as the Alfa Romeo 916, the Alfa Romeo GTV Spider was effectively the replacement for the then 30 year old Giulia Spider and was designed by Enrico Fumia at Pininfarina. The Gran Turismo Veloce or GTV was planned to re-establish the sporty coupé tradition of Alfa Romeo for the 1990s and at its launch, many journalists commented that Alfa had improved overall build quality considerably and that it came very close to equaling its German rivals; impressive credentials when seated at such a beautiful car.
Revamped for the first time in 1998 (Phase 2) interior changes included new centre console, painted letters on skirt seals, changed controls and switches arrangement and different instrument cluster. On the exterior main changes included chrome frame around the grille and colour-coded side skirts and bumpers coupled with a slight power increase on the 2.0 TS to 153bhp. The 2.0 16V Twin Spark engine had variable inlet cam timing, giving 25 degrees of variation to improve torque and give a more linear power delivery. The 2.0 TS engine had two belt driven balance shafts to improve the smoothness of the engine, all making for what many believed to be the best combination in the GTV despite being pitched against the legendary V6 power plant.
This lovely right hand drive example is presented in bright yellow with black leather interior and a contrasting electrically operated blue hood although this is currently not working. The car comes with air conditioning, electric windows, power steering and alloy wheels. There is a good history with the car and it also benefits from an MoT certificate which expires 22nd April 2019. The car comes with a Japanese validation certificate verifying the mileage.
