Description

First shown to the public at the 1970 Geneva Motor Show, the Montreal was Alfa Romeo’s take on a fast grand touring 2+2, designed by Bertone’s Marcello Gandini, who was also responsible for Lamborghini’s Miura and Countach. Up front sits a 2.6-liter V-8 that draws its lineage back to the Tipo 33 Stradale, and is equipped with Spica mechanical fuel injection as well as dry sump lubrication.

This 1972 Alfa Romeo Montreal is a factory air-conditioned car and has undergone an extensive restoration with several notable upgrades. Carried out by Naples Classic Car circa 2020, the restoration of this Montreal saw it lavished with attention normally reserved for much more valuable automobiles, as supported by the large volume of records and photos on file.

The Montreal was taken down to bare metal and refinished to its original red over black leather combination, with unique contrasting silver rocker panels specified by the consignor. A custom, one-off, set of wheels inspired by the Lamborghini Miura complete the striking visual, and a fully restored stock set is also included in the sale. Under the car, a full Alfaholics performance suspension has been fitted along with upgraded front brakes, with the goal of having the car drive as beautifully as it looks.

This Montreal offers a special opportunity to own a unique, comprehensively restored piece of Alfa Romeo’s legacy, combining outstanding 1970s styling with exceptional performance.
