It is very likely Alfa Romeo could still sell new cars from its 105 series. The whole range is still incredibly popular.

The Alfa Romeo Junior Zagato was meant to be a small “Grand Tourer”. The sharply receding roof line essentially created a two-seater. It is a gorgeous light-footed car that transforms even the most sceptic person into an “Alfist” for life within a few kilometres. Our car would most probably take even less time than that, as we will explain later on.

Ercole Espada signed off on the design and whilst it is quite expressive it is also full of lovely features. The boot lid can be left slightly open for extra fresh air. The rear is a proper Kamm-tail and there are various aluminium panels.

Our car is a 1972 Alfa Romeo Junior Zagato 1300 of which only 1,108 were built. To say this car has been extensively restored is the same as saying that Lewis Hamilton is quite a good driver. The car has literally had a nut & bolt restoration. Just take a peak at the pictures from underneath the car and you will get what I mean. Underneath has been as beautifully treated as on top. The restoration is most certainly of a high standard with everything done to create a top quality car again. Every hose has been replaced and the subframe resprayed. It is wonderful thing to see with how much feeling for authenticity and precision they worked on the car.

The car is without doubt in excellent shape. The bodywork has fine and correctly aligned panelwork. The car was resprayed in a “Blu Zagato” finish. The paintwork was applied to a very high standard and has remained in perfect condition.

Mechanically this Alfa Romeo is in rude health. In the past the 1300 drive train was replaced by a 2000 drive train. The engine now develops 132 Ps instead of the 89 horses it left the factory with. The brakes, the limited slip differential all come out of a 2000 GTV. This Alfa is certainly a true joy to drive. Weighing in at just 920 Kg makes this a seriously fast car and the large cubic capacity means the car always has more than enough torque available.

This wonderful Alfa Romeo 1300 Junior Zagato is now, almost 50 years later, even better than when it left the factory. The car comes with a full photo series of the restoration as well as its various manuals. A wonderful model in exceptional shape with a brilliant engine!
