1965 Alfa Romeo GTA 1600 Race Car

History: Alfa Romeo Archivio Automobilismo Storico Letter shows delivery to the Commerce Company of the Alfa Romeo Products of Agno, Switzerland. Produced on June 3, 1965, this GTA was delivered red with black vinyl.

It spent its early life in Switzerland with a small number of owners and took part in a few hill climbs and rallies. Under the ownership of noted collector and racer, Ivan Scotti, it was race prepared to the FIA legal requirements and raced in the highly competitive U2TC series from 1992-2012, often with well known co-drivers. Usually in the top three podium places. Coming to its new home in California in 2016. After restoration it was a race winner first time out at the CSRG event at Laguna Seca in June of 2021.

Condition: In outstanding condition, having undergone a comprehensive bare shell restoration from 2017 to June of 2021. With receipts in excess of $200,000. The restoration is documented by a large binder of receipts and photographs. It is in full Corsa specification. Bare body shell repairs and repaint by EuroSport. Assembly, brightwork, and interior trimmed correctly at Grand Prix Classics. Full engine rebuild by Dave Vegher of Veloce Motors, with dyno sheet and build sheet. Cosworth pistons, Carello rods, Crower steel forged crankshaft; the best of everything. Close ratio gearbox, limited slip differential, ATE brakes, new brake lines, shocks, suspension, etc. A full race prep, alignment, corner weights, and more by Competition Touring Cars at Sonoma Raceway. This car is stunning to look at, accurately restored and ready to race.

Features: Full aluminum body with steel floors, plexiglass windows, lightweight dash, KONI shocks, engine is a fresh build with GTA twin plug cylinder head, Weber DCOE 45 carburetors, deep finned magnesium
oil pan, magnesium bell housing, close ratio gearbox, limited slip differential, ATE brakes, outside fuel filler and large competition fuel tank, 7” Campagnolo magnesium wheels with new Hoosier TD race tires. New fuel cell, fire system, seat belts, Sparco competition seats.

Of Note: Binder of documents and photographs recording extensive restoration. Engine dyno sheet and build sheet. Copy of Swiss Title. Has current United States title. Alfa Romeo Archives build sheet, old FIA HTP papers, historic race results. A fresh and stunning vehicle. Race winner at first event June 6, 2021 Laguna Seca.
