Introduced at the 1954 Torino Motor Show and designed by Franco Scaglione of Bertone, the handsome and spry Giulietta Sprint 2+2 sports coupe captured the public’s imagination and became an instant sales success. Technically advanced for the time, the Giulietta Sprint chassis was underpinned by an independent front suspension, live rear axle, and coil springs with hydraulic dampers at all four corners. Powered by an alloy DOHC 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine, the Sprint was capable of 102 mph in standard form.

This 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint 1300 is from the last year of Giulietta production and finished in attractive AR-323 Dark Blue over a gray tweed and blue vinyl interior. According to notes on file, the Sprint was delivered new in Madrid, and later exported to the US, where it was eventually acquired by Terry Larson of Tacoma, Washington, in 1989. The Sprint was systematically refurbished over a period of years including refinishing in its original hue and the fitting of a larger Alfa Romeo 101-series 1600 engine and five-speed gearbox. Since its July 2006 purchase by collector and vintage racer Tommy Trabue, this Sprint has benefited from continual attention, as evidenced by an extensive file of service invoices that accompany this sale.

This well-sorted Sprint has been a favorite driver of Mr. Trabue. A charming blend of character and performance, it is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.
