Description

Dutch registration
Chassis # AR1481194

- Rare original state
- Engine with fuel injection
- The rarest and most desirable

With the sports personality of the brand, it was expected that the Giulia saloon launched in 1962, would be followed by a coupe and a convertible. The first made its appearance in 1963, followed three years later a Spider named "Duetto". Its design, by Pininfarina, was of great elegance and finesse, with the profile often compared to a cuttlebone. Its dual camshaft engines were offered in 1600cc and 1750cc versions, with the version for the United States fitted with a Spica fuel injection system.
The Alfa Romeo archives confirm that the car we offer is a 1750 Spider Veloce USA version (105.62 series) and that it rolled out of the factory on the 8th of September, 1969 and was intended to be sent to the Alfa Romeo dealership in Newark, United States. However, according to the owner, this Spider never left Europe: it was, in fact, purchased by an American soldier who planned to take the car back to his country on his return, which ultimately didn't happen. The car remained for long in the Netherlands, and the current owner acquired it there about four years ago as a gift for his wife. He looked for a fuel injected version, knowing that when the engine is set, it's a very powerful version. Green in colour (Verde Vivo) as since the beginning, this car has been repainted, but has a body in original condition which is exceptionally well preserved. The interior is original, in black imitation leather, and has a beautiful patina. The beautiful wooden steering wheel is in superb condition, the dashboard has a Philips radio and the odometer displays just 57,075 miles (91,850km). The engine compartment and the trunk are in immaculate condition. Following the purchase, the car received a service by the engineer of the owner.
It is hardly common to encounter a Spider Duetto in such an original condition. Rarer and more elegant than the subsequent version with its chopped-off tail, this car is an opportunity to enjoy both the brilliant Alfa Romeo mechanicals and the pleasure of driving in the sun.

The cars in this collection are all offered without contôle technique (MOT). New legislation prevents us from obtaining an MOT for a vehicle that is not registered in France.
