- Part of The Piccolo Collection
- The first Alfa Romeo model featuring unitary construction; the first built on an assembly line
- Blue over Bordeaux leather with tan canvas top
- Powered by a 1,884 cc four-cylinder twin-cam engine; four-speed manual transmission
The Alfa Romeo 1900, produced from 1950 to 1959, was the first car from the Italian marque to feature unitary body construction and the first Alfa Romeo produced on an assembly line. Significantly, the 1900 also launched a new four-cylinder twin-camshaft engine that would become a mainstay for cars made in Portello for years to come. The 1,884 cc engine featured an aluminium cylinder head with two chain-driven camshafts and produced 80 horsepower in its initial application. Higher performance versions would achieve outputs up to 115 horsepower.
Launched as a saloon, a two-door, short-wheelbase “C” variant—for corto, or “short”—soon followed. Alfa Romeo designed the saloon in-house but gave official contracts to coachbuilders, namely Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera and Pinin Farina, for the coupé and cabriolet models.
The elegant Pinin Farina-designed 1900 C Cabriolet offered here is configured in right-hand drive and is finished in attractive Blue over patinated Bordeaux leather. It features a tan canvas soft-top that complements the colour scheme. Riding on correct knock-off wire wheels, the car is presented with characterful patina and wear.
Replete with FIVA Identity Card and ASI certificate, this historically significant 1900 C Cabriolet is an excellent candidate for restoration or simply to be driven and enjoyed in its current preserved condition, following long and proud ownership as an integral part of The Piccolo Collection.
