The Bertone designed Alfa Romeo coupes of the 1960‘s and early ‘70‘s are widely regarded as some of the greatest of the early ‘sport saloons‘, offering the enthusiastic driver the thrills of a race bred twin-cam engine in a rigid two door shell which, whilst stunning in it‘s appearance, remained highly practical with room for four and generous luggage space. In touring car races the battles between the Alfa‘s and the Ford Escorts and Cortina‘s raged for many seasons. As is often the case, when the basic design of a car is ‘right‘, it will endure for many years and the Bertone designed GT remained in production from 1962 until the mid 1970‘s. Many specification changes were made in the course of this time with engines from 1.3 to 2 litres being fitted.
