Registration Number: ACC 919A Chassis Number: GHD52713269
The one-owner example is a one-off recreation of the original and iconic AC Cobra. The original began as a joint venture between AC Cars of Surrey and Shelby American of California. Just 1011 cars were built in total from 1962 to 1969. The 289 Mk II accounted for about 530 cars with the wider bodied 427 Cobra replacing the 289 in 1965. The original 289 engine (4.7 litres) produced 271bhp – this car has a 5.0 litre engine pushing out 340bhp and 337 lb/ft of torque.
This recreation has been based on a chassis from Hawk Cars of East Sussex, widely regarded as providing authentic reproductions that already are attracting high values as classic in themselves, and features aluminium panelling.
Construction of ACC 919A started in June 1996, when the chassis in bare metal was delivered to H Engineering of Tunbridge Wells.
