Description

This Abarth 124 Rally RGT is an authentic rally car with competitive pedigree, which is also
registered and road legal. Under the bonnet lies the same 1.8-litre turbocharged four-
cylinder engine used in the Alfa Romeo 4C, producing 296bhp and 444lb-ft, in a car
weighing only 1050kg. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a sequential six-speed
gearbox with carbon-fibre shift paddles. The odometer reads 11,250 km (6,990 miles) from
new.
This example, chassis number 3, is an ex-official Abarth competition car. Campaigned in
2017 by rally drivers Andrea Nucita, Fabrizio Andolfi, Andrea Modanesi, Alvaro Muniz Mora
and Roberto Lumini, this 124 achieved two RGT class wins and two second places, as well
as a one third place by season’s end.
In 2018, the car returned to the Abarth factory, where it was used as a development vehicle
to adjust the ride height and ground clearance for future cars – piloted by former World Rally
Championship contender Alex Fiorio. This 124 rally car is currently registered with Italian
papers for road use, while its number plate ‘FG399SB’ can be identified in racing photos.
The Abarth’s white paint remains in good order, and displays only a handful of the battle-
scars that you would expect from a life lived off-road. Both front and rear bumpers are
remarkably free of stonechips, with some marks visible above the ‘H’ on the driver’s side
door. A scratch is also present on the roof scoop. Some signs of discoloration are visible on
the plastic screen of the hardtop. The vendor adds that some paint is missing on the bonnet
as well as the sides, but overall this example presents very well. The light lenses and
windows are also intact, and the five-stud 15-inch OZ Racing alloy wheels show signs of use
in line with the car’s sporting intent.
Inside, the Abarth’s pared-back cabin speaks to its performance-led focus. A full roll cage
dominates the cabin, while other highlights include the carbon-fibre paddle shifters, carbon-
fibre centre console, as well as an Alcantara-clad Sabelt steering wheel. This carries most of
the 124 Rally’s most important controls, from indicators to headlight flashers, horn, wipers,
washers, starter and the launch control function.
Both Sabelt bucket seats feature embroidered Abarth scorpions, and are free of rips and
tears. The vendor adds that all interior accessories are in full working order, including the
multi-function display which allows the driver to adjust parameters such as the brake
balance.

In October 2020, the car was certified by Abarth for its mechanical and cosmetic originality.
Due to its low mileage to date, all which was required was replacement of the brake discs all
round.
Shod in a matching set of Michelin Latitude Cross tyres with a BF Goodrich spare, these all
have ample tread remaining and no obvious tyre damage. This example will be supplied with
its Abarth Certificate of Authenticity, as well as its historic FIA R-GT Technical Passport
documents covering the period in which it was campaigned.
This Abarth 124 Rally R-GT is a rare opportunity to purchase a turn-key rally car with recent
competitive provenance. Offering an entertaining front engine, rear-wheel drive experience
matched to a sparkling chassis, it would be a fine contender in professional or amateur rally
events, or a particularly attention-grabbing vehicle for all manner of motorsport shows and
gatherings. As it is road legal, it would also make an incredible weekend toy for enjoying on
your favourites stretches of tarmac.
