The Fiat Abarth 1000 Bialbero, more than others, highlights Carlo Abarth's skill into tuning cars.
It is in fact a proper race car: chassis and much of the parts are those of the Fiat 600, the popular utility vehicle of 1955.
The victories achieved in 1961 allowed Abarth to win the FIA GT Cup (a sort of World Championship for Gran Turismo cars) into the 700 cc and 1,000 cc categories.
A prestigious result, obtained with cars that are totally different from the original car which they came from.
The technical capabilities of the Abarth had led the starting construction scheme to an unimaginable development a few years earlier, making a real racing machine from a utility vehicle.
The Abarth 1000 Bialbero represented the last car (although it continued in the following years) obtainable from the Fiat 600.
