MODEL HISTORY
The Velocette Venom was introduced in late 1955 at the same time as the 349cc Viper. Developed from the MSS model, the 499cc single-cylinder Venom had a cast-iron cylinder liner paired to a high-compression piston and alloy cylinder head.

The Venom’s black paintwork was enhanced by many chromed fixtures and gold pin striping on the fuel tank, and there was a Sport model too, which from 1958 featured aerodynamic fibre-glass panels that enclosed the lower section of the engine.

The Venom was a great sales-success for Velocette and for a time was the company’s best-selling motorcycle. It is now well-regarded by motorcycle enthusiasts world-wide as a highly usable and attractive four-stroke single-cylinder sporting English motorcycle.

THIS MOTORCYCLE
This wonderful example, frame number RS7019, has recently returned to England from Belgium. Its early history is unknown, but it was registered with the DVLA in late 2003 when it is believed to have recently had a restoration completed. According to the quantity of MOT certificates in the history file, the owner in Newcastle upon Tyne enjoyed the motorcycle for a few hundred miles a year for the next twelve years before selling it to another enthusiast a few miles from them in 2015.

In early 2019 this Velocette Venom ventured overseas to an owner in Belgium before returning to England later the same year. Retaining UK registration with the DVLA, the history file contains a quantity of relatively recent invoices, several previous MOT certificates, a dating letter from the Velocette Owners Club, and a previous V5 and current V5C registration certificates.

Now on display and for sale at The Classic Motor Hub, this Velocette Venom is in very good condition despite being an older restoration, and the engine started and ran well on our recent test. Please call or email us for further information.
