Est. 13 hp, 175 cc single-cylinder engine.
Giovanni Parilla built a large range of machines in the 1950s and 1960s, from two-strokes to handsome and competitive racers. In 1953 a designer called Soncini joined the company and introduced the twin-cylinder Setter 250 cc and the Vetro 350 cc. In addition, a 175-cc single-cylinder, single-camshaft model called the Turismo Speciale was produced. This model featured short pushrods, which were operated by a single cam that was located high on the timing case. By the simple addition of a high-lift camshaft, modified versions of the 175-cc model began to have success on the racetrack in Italy. Giovanni visited the United States in 1954, and a road-tested 175 competition model was timed to a road speed of 96 mph. Four years later Giuseppe Rottigne won the 250-cc Grand Prix at Daytona—on a 175-cc bike.
