Description
Introduced in 1950, Norton’s celebrated Featherbed frame earned its name from its exceptional comfort and handling compared with contemporary racing motorcycles. Its rigid, twin-loop construction provided outstanding stability while remaining remarkably responsive at speed. This handsome bike was custombuilt by NYC Norton, combining the Featherbed frame with the engine from a Norton Commando for a classic blend of form and updated mechanical specification. This motorcycle features a large four-leading-shoe drum brake, classic Manx-style fenders, and a Lyta Sprint tank for a purposeful competition appearance. The resulting machine is an attractive cafe racer that is sure to intrigue Norton enthusiasts. Further mechanical attention will be required, including to the engine and starting mechanism.
*Please note that the lots offered in the Billy Joel Collection have been in long-term static storage and may not be currently operational. They will require mechanical attention prior to use.
