Following its launch in 1959, it didn’t take long for the Triumph Bonneville to establish a reputation as the fastest motorbike available. With its name which was chosen in recognition of the 214mph World Speed Record set in 1954 by Johnny Allen at Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah aboard a modified 650cc Triumph Thunderbird, no other manufacturer produced a machine that could match its performance on road or track. The standard 650cc twin cylinder engine produced a very impressive 48bhp, sufficient for a 120mph top speed via a four speed gearbox, while the twin down tube frame offered excellent road holding.
This superb 1972 Bonnevile, is one of the very last of the famous model. Fully restored in the 1990s, and purchased by the current vendors in 1996, this motorcycle has seen little use since which is evidence
