Description

Developed from the GTV, the Astore was unveiled at the Milan Motor Show in 1949. The engine was descended from the model created in 1921 for the Normale: a 500 cc single-cylinder with rods and rocker arms. An innovation compared to the previous GTV is the head, now with the springs and rocker arms of the valvetrain enclosed by and with an oil-bath lubrication system; the cylinder and cylinder head were made of aluminium and no longer of cast iron. The structure has a closed tubular duplex cradle frame, front telescopic fork, and rear swingarm with spring beneath the engine, with two hydraulic shocks. The gearbox is a pedal-operated four-speed model. The styling is virtually identical to that of the GTV, with a tapered and chromed tank and highly protective crash bars.
