MAW, a manufacturer of micromotors based in Magdeburg in East Germany, stands for Magdeburger Armaturenwerke, a manufacturer of armaments during the Second World War, after which, like many other companies, retrained by converting production from military to civilian and especially towards mass motorization. The proposed model is a HW bicycle with an original front brake controlled by a rod, and powered by a 49.7 cc MAW auxiliary engine. Restored and presumably never used since. A general mechanical check is recommended before use.
