The CB 400 F, presented in 1975, is an upgrade of the 350 model already marketed in previous years.
The most important modification was represented by the increase in the bore that brought the displacement to 408 cm³, by the adoption of a 6-speed gearbox and a 4-in-1 exhaust that followed the shape of the frame ending up in the exhaust on the right side.
In the name, too, an attempt was made to underline these characteristics by adding the wording "Super Sport" to the tank.
Although aimed at the sportier sector of the market, the CB 400 F provided more limited performance than its competitors in terms of displacement, but, on the other hand, the engine had a more progressive delivery and was quieter than the 2-stroke models.
