Après l’immense succès de la Sportster, accessible en termes de prix et de prise en main, et un premier vrai remodelage en 2004 (sans parler de l’apparition de l’injection l’année suivante), Harley-Davidson a enrichi la gamme d’une nouvelle Sportster 1200 baptisée Nightster. Apparue en 2007, cette Harley des temps modernes se singularise par son garde-boue arrière tronqué, sa selle monoplace, ses jantes à rayons, ses deux amortisseurs et son réservoir « goutte d’eau » d’inspiration très vintage. Maniable, élégante, sportive (avec son moteur développant 57 ch), cette moto ne souffre que d’un seul défaut : l’autonomie de son réservoir de 12,5 l ! Les Sportster ont tiré leur révérence en 2021, alors qu’elles étaient au catalogue depuis 1957, tandis que la Nighster n’est restée en production que cinq ans, jusqu’en 2012.
Cette Nightster de 2012 fut achetée en deuxième main par la compagne de Monsieur B. en 2014. Avec sa taille contenue et sa facilité d’utilisation, elle se révélait être la monture idéale pour des balades à deux (chacun sa moto !). Cette belle Harley a bénéficié d’un entretien suivi, et a très peu roulé, puisqu’elle totalisait 10 000 km en 2016, et que son compteur affichait 12 800 km le jour de notre essai. L’occasion de s’offrir le mythe Harley avec une monture facile et fiable.

After the huge success of the affordable and easy-to-handle Sportster and a first real redesign in 2004 (not to mention the introduction of fuel injection the following year), Harley-Davidson added a new Sportster 1200 called the Nightster to the range. Introduced in 2007, this modern-day Harley stands out with its truncated rear fender, single seat, spoked rims, twin shocks and vintage-inspired "drop tank". Handy, elegant, sporty (with its 57 hp engine), this bike suffers from only one flaw: the autonomy of its 12.5 l tank! The Sportsters bowed out in 2021, although they had been in the catalogue since 1957, while the Nightster remained in production for only five years, until 2012.
This 2012 Nightster was bought second hand by Mr B's wife in 2014. This beautiful Harley has benefited from regular maintenance, and has been ridden very little, since it had 10,000 km in 2016, and its odometer showed 12,800 km on the day of our test. This is a great opportunity to get into the Harley myth with an easy and reliable bike.
